I will like to begin this short commentary on the above subject matter by commending the Governor of Anambra State, Professor Chukwuma Soludo CFR, for his courage, strength and determination to transform the state without fear or favour. It takes maximal courage to do what many even fear to conjecture. Well-done our dear Governor.
Having said that, it becomes necessary to add that the transformation of Anambra State is our common project and much bigger than anyone’s personal misgivings or interests, if we understand, that the common good is far more desirable than individual interests.
It’s in the consideration of these factors, that I think the narrative about the partial demolition of the Innoson showroom at Nnewi is an unnecessary distraction from a wonderful project that was designed and intended to benefit the entire state.
Innoson Vehicle Manufacturing Company is our own and the entire state and divine elements would not forgive anyone or power that deliberately conspires to sabotage, diminish or hinder the activities of this company, that has brought accolades to the state and engraved its name on the global map of auto Manufacturing.
The partial demolition was not personal to the company, as it affected other institutions and organizations, churches, hospitals, schools, residences and businesses. It is the sacrifice a few must make for the good of many.
This commentary does not intend to look for who was wrong, but to encourage all affected people to consider themselves as partners with the Soludo administration in the transformation of the state. The narrative of adequate information or time not given before the demolition are all pedestrian excuses. Such monumental projects as the dualisation of that critical road would not have begun without feasibility studies or impact analysis. Be that as it may, our collective support should be with Governor Soludo and as I empathize with Innoson, I also empathize with everyone affected with the demolition exercise. In every urban renewal something must give way.
May we not trivialize the courageous determination to transform the state by condescending to the petty pursuit of grandstanding or unnecessary emotional outbursts. Anambra, after years of docility, is now on the move. Let all hands be on deck as Governor Chukwuma Soludo takes us to the future now.
Long live Governor Soludo!
Long live Innoson!!
Long live Anambra State!!!
