A 37-year-old man, Sani Tasun, on Friday appeared before an Ota Magistrates ‘Court, Ogun State for allegedly stabbing one Mr Sani Jubril with a knife.

Tasun, whose address was not provided, is facing a two-count charge of conspiracy and assault. He pleaded not guilty.

The prosecutor, Insp E.O. Adaraloye told the court that the defendant and others at large committed the offences on April 18 at 7.00 p.m. at the Kurata Ori-Okuta area of Ota.

Adaraloye alleged that the defendant and his accomplices conspired to assault Jubril by stabbing him with a knife, causing him a permanent injury.

The prosecutor said that the offences were punishable under Section 4(1) of Violence (Prohibition) Law of Ogun.

Adaraloye added that the offences contravened Section 249 of the Criminal Code, Law of Ogun, 2006.

The Magistrate, Mrs O.O. Fadairo granted the defendant bail in the sum of one million naira with one surety in like sum.

Fadairo said that the surety must reside within the court’s jurisdiction, be gainfully employed, and have evidence of tax payment to the Ogun Government.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the magistrate adjourned the case until May 5, 2025, for substantive hearing.
