Benue State Governor Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia is celebrating with Christians in the state and across the country for commemorating another Easter, marking the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ for the salvation of mankind.
The governor, in a statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary Tersoo Kula, said Christ’s sacrifice and resurrection demonstrate selflessness, freeing humanity from chaos and condemnation and nurturing hope and optimism for a life of virtue on earth and eternity.
He regrets that this year’s Easter is being marked at a time the State has come under several attacks, assuring that his administration is doing everything within its power in collaboration with security agencies to ensure the safety of all Benue people.
He called for collaboration amongst the people of the State in order to be able to defeat the forces of evil, who are bent on causing pain and agony to the innocent people of the state and across the country.
The governor called for prayers, love for one another, forgiveness, sacrifice and reconciliation, which he said are the dominant virtues that Jesus Christ bequeathed to mankind as a result of his death and resurrection.
He prayed for God’s grace and blessings over the people of the state during and after the period of the Easter celebration.
