There is tension in the Ogbe Oba community in Delta State, following the disappearance of an alleged homosexual, Zubby Jacob Ike.
In August 2024, Ike disappeared from the community after he was accused of being involved in homosexuality and was declared wanted.
But one of the community leaders, Philip Osamor, in a statement yesterday, urged the people to embrace peace, tolerance and live in harmony with one another.
He said there was no need for the prolonged disagreement between Ike and the community.
He, however, described the incident as unfortunate, and charged the youths to shun violence and engage themselves in more productive ventures rather than involvement in social vices and immoral behaviours.
He further urged them to take advantage of his ICT and skills-acquisition centre in the community to build their capacity and self development in the new digital economy.
“Stay away from violence, immoral acts and behaviours that are prohibited in our society. Always imbibe the spirit of discipline and tolerance, and ensure you participate in developing yourselves daily,” he said.
