The penultimate day of the MTN CHAMPS Continental Relays in Lagos delivered thrilling action, with mixed relay events and sprint finals taking center stage.
Making its debut in Nigeria, the Mixed 4x100m relay stole the spotlight as Team Continental’s quartet of Iyanuoluwa Bada, Janet Adesiyan, Chidera Ezeakor, and Favour Ashe blazed to a national-leading 42.91s, ahead of Zabranto Athletics, D’Victors A, and Benin Republic.
In the Mixed 4x400m, Miracle Donald-Uwem, Samson Nathaniel, Patience Okon-George, and Emmanuel Ojeli powered to a commanding win in 3:21.63, finishing comfortably ahead of Team MTN and St. Christy Track Club. Ezekiel Asuquo pulled off an upset in the Junior Men’s 400m, defeating favourite Gafar Badmus with a PB of 47.26s. In the Junior Women’s 400m, Toheebat Jimoh led from the front to win in 55.7h.
Emmanuel Ojeli and Patience Okon-George topped the men’s and women’s 200m semifinals respectively, while John Caleb impressed in the Junior Men’s category with a 21.19s PB. Hafsoh Bisola, Lucy Nwankwo, and Mariam Jegede were the standout qualifiers in the Junior Women’s 200m semis.
