Senator Ned Nwoko, representing Delta North Senatorial District in the National Assembly, has facilitated projects worth over N30 billion under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, aimed at improving infrastructure and agricultural development in the region.
According to a statement issued by his media consultant, Michael Ogah, and made available to journalists yesterday, the projects are being executed through the Benin-Owena River Basin Development Authority and are spread across various local government areas within Delta North.
The statement revealed that over N7.5 billion has been earmarked for the construction of treatment plants and reticulation works at the completed Ogwashi-Uku Dam in Aniocha South Local Government Area. In addition, another N7.5 billion project is underway for the construction of the Idumuje Dam in Aniocha North, aimed at enhancing water supply and supporting irrigation efforts.
“These projects are designed to transform the lives of our people. Through President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, I have facilitated over N30 billion in strategic interventions that will address critical infrastructure needs and boost agricultural productivity,” Senator Nwoko was quoted as saying.
He further disclosed that additional funds have been allocated to develop irrigation systems across the river belt, including Olodu and surrounding communities, to enhance year-round farming for local farmers.
“We are prioritizing irrigation systems to support peasant farmers with quality seedlings, fertilizers, and modern farming implements. The goal is to ensure consistent food production for both local consumption and export,” Nwoko added.
He emphasized that the projects were made possible through his strong working relationship with President Tinubu and the Federal Government.
“This is one of the major landmark achievements being brought to Delta State, and it would not have been possible without the support and direct intervention of Mr. President and a few influential senators in the National Assembly,” the statement added.
Senator Nwoko reaffirmed his commitment to the people of Delta North, promising to continue leveraging federal opportunities to bring development to the region.
