Nuno Espirito Santo has expressed concern over the injury to Super Eagles defender Ola Aina, who had to leave the field during Nottingham Forest’s 1-0 victory over Manchester United on Tuesday evening.

In the 39th minute of the match, Aina limped off, needing to be replaced by Alex Moreno, after sustaining an injury without any challenge from an opponent.

The 28-year-old defender, who has featured in 30 Premier League matches this season, is now doubtful for Forest’s upcoming game against Aston Villa in the Premier League on Saturday.

In an interview with The Athletic, Espirito Santo commented on Aina’s injury: “I cannot say much. It’s always a concern when a player gets injured without any contact.”

When asked if Aina’s injury was related to his calf, Nuno responded, “We will have him scanned to better understand the situation. I am not entirely sure what the specific issue is. The scan will provide us with more information.”

Regarding Aina’s absence, Nuno mentioned, “I thought we needed an extra body to help us, and Morato did well.”

Aina was later seen filming his teammates celebrating after the victory over United, with a pair of crutches spotted next to his seat in the dressing room.
