Former Minister of State for Education, Chukwuemeka Nwajiuba, has distributed food relief materials to Muslim communities across Nigeria in observance of the holy month of Ramadan.
The donation, which covered all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), was organised in three phases over the weekend. The first phase, on March 27, targeted the North East, North West and North Central regions, while the second phase on March 28, catered to the South East, South West and South South regions.
The relief materials were distributed at various mosques, including the AYA Asokoro Mosque in Abuja, where the FCT Coordinator, Dr. Ifeyinwa Esther Irebo, presented the donations on his behalf.
Young Nigerian Voices (YNV), a civic advocacy group, commended Nwajiuba for his gesture, describing it as a demonstration of his commitment to unity and support for vulnerable communities. In a statement by its National Publicity Secretary, Chigozie Igbo Jr, YNV lauded the former minister’s dedication to public service and his contributions to national development.
Nwajiuba, a politician and lawyer, has previously served as Minister of State for Education, where he championed policies aimed at improving access to education. His latest initiative is seen as part of his broader efforts to foster inclusivity and social welfare in Nigeria.
