The National Orientation Agency (NOA) also condemned the killings.
Lanre Issa-Onilu, NOA director-general, in a statement, described the killing as “unlawful, inhumane, and one that goes against the principles of justice and due process”.
Issa-Onilu expressed the agency’s confidence in the security agencies ability to bring the perpetrators to book.
“Every Nigerian, regardless of background or location, deserves the right to a fair trial and protection under the law,” the statement reads.
“Real Nigerians are known for their unity, respect for human rights, and adherence to the rule of law. Whenever there are suspicions of crime, citizens should report to the appropriate security agencies rather than resorting to extrajudicial actions.”
He commiserated with the families of the deceased, while urging Nigerians to shun extrajudicial actions and report any incident to the appropriate authorities.
The NOA boss reiterated the agency’s commitment to promoting peace and unity in the country.
“The NOA remains committed to promoting peace, unity, and the values that define us as a nation. Let us work together to uphold justice and safeguard the sanctity of human life,” Issa-Onilu said.
