The leadership of the Maritime Workers Union of  Nigeria (MWUN) has approved the promotion of 14 of the union’s staff across the four branches of the union.

According to the president of the union, Adewale Adeyanju, the staff were elevated for their dedication, discipline, commitment, hardwork, and goodly attitude towards effective and efficient productivity on the job for the union at all times.

The officers are Oniha Erazua as the Secretary General of the union and now takes over the reign of the union as the new acting SG.

Others include, Ekpo John, Deputy Secretary General, as the new DSG Administration and Human Resources, Kenneth Ibanga, Deputy Secretary General, Protocol/International Relations, Ajayi A. Akinwumi now Deputy Secretary General,  Organizing/Operation of the Union and to also oversee the Seamen Branch, Augustine Onoriode, now Deputy Secretary General (DSG), Matthew Adele, now General Secretary of Dockworkers branch of the union.

The rest are Okoro Kalu, General Secretary of Shipping Branch, Joseph John Ekwere now Ag  General Secretary of Nigeria Ports Authority (NPA) Branch, Olungwe Dagogo now Ag. General Secretary of Seafarers Branch, Garba Biu Mohammed now Ag. Assistant General Secretary (AGS) to Shipping Branch of the union on Ship Data Management, R Adebayo as Accountant to oversee NPA/Seafarers Branches accounts respectively, Iyabo Ajibaye, to oversee the account of the Dockworkers/Shipping Branches respectively.

Also, Owolabi A. Mark, promoted Senior Legal Officer of the  union and John Kennedy Ikemefuna as Senior Media Officer/ Head Media of the union.

According to the Head of Media, Kennedy Ikemefuna, “the affected staff of the union had since assumed their new designations as approved and signed by the President Adeyanju, PG of the Union.”
