The Kaduna State Executive Committee of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) has refuted claims that the state’s former governor, Nasir El-Rufai was a member of the party, stating that neither the Chairman of the Kaduna North Local Government Chapter nor the leadership of Unguwar Sarki ward has any record of his membership.

However, the Assistant National Secretary, North-West Zone of SDP, Idris Inuwa at a press conference in Kaduna on Friday, rejected the decision of the party at the national level to dissolve the State Working Committee with the intention to impose some people on the party.

To him, the SDP constitution outlines a clear process for dissolving a State Executive Committee, which includes initiating an investigation, setting up a committee, and providing a fair hearing, claiming that none of these procedures was followed, rendering the dissolution null and void.

“The Kaduna State Executive Committee is a product of a duly conducted State Congress and holds a four-year mandate that remains valid and binding,” he said.

“It has come to our notice that certain individuals, including Nasir El-Rufai, are rumoured to have joined the SDP. However, neither the Chairman of the Kaduna North Local Government Chapter in Kaduna State nor the leadership of Unguwar Sarki ward has any record of these memberships.

“Consequently, Nasir El-Rufa’i and his co-travellers are not recognised members of the SDP in Kaduna State at this time,” he added.
