. Reads riot act to Super Eagles
… Alhassan Yusuf still expected
Super Eagles coach, Eric Chelle had a full compliment of his team, except Alhassan Yusuf, who was still being expected last night because of connecting flight from his base in the United States.
The players had the opportunity of having an inkling of the style and pattern of play of the former Mali coach as all the 22 players were drilled on different formations by the coach and his assistants.
Meanwhile, Chelle is not taking any chances leading up to Friday’s must-win 2026 World Cup qualifier in Rwanda and so he has come out to read the riot act to the team, report scorenigeria.
The former Mali coach told the backroom staff that no visitors will be allowed in his training camp.
Chelle, who had to take a huge pay cut for the Super Eagles top post, also said that any player who does not feature in today’s training in Kigali, will not play Friday’s match.
Victor Osimhen has already warned that the new Super Eagles coach means business after he spoke with him recently.
“We spoke, he called me along with his assistant,” Osimhen told Obi One Podcast.
“Form the last AFCON with Mali, he’s a coach who loves to play, he really loves to fight.
“This is a snippet to my teammates in the national team, according to what he told me, he’s going to be very, very demanding
“He said ‘I want to guys to come hand-in-hand with me to achieve amazing things for Nigeria.
“’You guys have the quality to achieve this, but the one who doesn’t fight for every ball, the one who doesn’t run for every ball, will not play’.
“He was really clear with me.”
Osimhen continued: “He said he can be a father, an uncle, a big brother to everyone, but on the pitch this is business.
“’I might scream at you guys, don’t take it badly.
“’You Victor, Ekong and the rest come hand-in-hand with me, if the players see you guys running so crazy, they will do it also. It starts from you guys.
“I totally agree with him.”
