Charterhouse Lagos has taken a bold step forward in shaping the future of education in Nigeria with the groundbreaking ceremony for its new secondary boarding school. This milestone reinforces the institution’s commitment to delivering world-class British independent education locally, eliminating the need for families to seek it abroad
The event was a high-profile gathering that underscored the synergy between the public and private sectors in advancing education. Notable dignitaries in attendance included the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Bimbola Salu-Hundeyin; the Commissioner for Commerce, Cooperatives, Trade, and Investment, Folashade Ambrose; the Commissioner for Youth and Social Development, Bolaji Ogunlende; and the Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Tolani Ali Balogun.
Representing Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Salu-Hundeyin commended Charterhouse Lagos for its unwavering dedication to academic excellence. “This groundbreaking is more than just an investment in infrastructure; it represents an investment in the future of our children and the continued prosperity of Lagos State,” she stated.
John Todd, Director of Education at Charterhouse Lagos, expressed enthusiasm about the expansion, describing it as a landmark achievement for the institution. “For years, Nigerian families have sought world-class British independent education overseas. With Charterhouse Lagos, they no longer need to look beyond our borders—we are bringing it home,” he affirmed.
He further emphasized the strong collaboration with the Lagos State Government, noting its pivotal role in fostering an environment where quality education can thrive. “With the Governor commissioning our primary school and now leading the groundbreaking for our secondary school, it is clear that Lagos State is committed to supporting educational excellence,” Todd added.
The ceremony not only marked the next phase in Charterhouse Lagos’ growth but also reinforced its mission to provide a holistic, high-quality learning experience. By expanding its footprint, the institution is playing a critical role in reshaping Nigeria’s educational landscape, ensuring that students have access to global standards of learning within the country.
