The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has announced a temporary redirection of flights to the domestic runway, 18L/36R, at Murtala Muhammed Airport (MMA), Lagos. This is due to the temporary closure of the international runway, 18R/36L, for ongoing rehabilitation work.

In a statement signed by Mrs Obiageli Orah, Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, FAAN clarified that the closure will occur from 03:00 hours on 3rd March 2025 to 23:59 hours on 4th March 2025. This initiative aims to maintain the airport’s infrastructure in optimal condition.

FAAN elaborated that the rehabilitation work will focus on the asphalt phase at the A2 Taxiway-link of the runway. This effort is crucial for ensuring the continued safety and efficiency of flight operations at Nigeria’s busiest international gateway.

Despite the temporary closure, FAAN has assured airlines and passengers that flight operations will remain unaffected. All flights will be redirected to the alternative runway, 18L/36R, ensuring minimal disruption.

FAAN reiterated its commitment to upholding the core values of safety, security, and comfort. Additionally, FAAN has advised passengers and airline operators to take note of this development and comply with all operational adjustments during this period.
