Ahead of mass wedding of 300 couples scheduled for February 27, 2025, at the Emir of Gwandu’s palace in Kebbi State, the Distribution Committee for the wedding has commenced with the distribution of furniture and essential materials to brides and grooms.
The Kebbi State Government in partnership with the NANAS Foundation, a pet project of the governor’s wife, Hajiya Nafisa Nasir Idris, sponsored the mass wedding.
Speaking to newsmen at the Ministry for Women Affairs in Birnin Kebbi, the Commissioner for Information and Culture, Alhaji Yakubu Birnin Kebbi, said; “All necessary materials were received early, and are being distributed promptly to avoid any mix-up.”
He commended the state government and NANAS Foundation for the initiative, urging them to maintain the momentum to benefit more people.
The Acting Chairman and Secretary of the Transportation Committee, Alhaji Kabiru Alaramma, described the mass wedding as a blessing to society. He added that the initiative, titled: ‘Auren Gata’ by Governor Nasir Idris, “is a blessing to Kebbi State. Distribution of wedding materials to beneficiaries is already underway,” he stated.
The distributed items include beds, mattresses, chairs, and wedding garments for both males and females.
Former Head of Service in the state and a member of the transport committee, Safiyanu Garba-Bena, who recalled the success of last year’s mass wedding organised by the state government and NANAS Foundation, advised the couples to use the provided items wisely to ensure a smooth and fulfilling married life.
