Renowned Nigerian radio personality and socialite Toke Makinwa was among the first celebrities to react to 2Baba’s posts regarding his alleged separation from his wife, Annie Idibia. The Nigerian social media space has been buzzing for the past 12 hours following the announcement shared on 2Baba’s Instagram, which quickly went viral.
The announcement came as a shock to many and has sparked a wave of reactions from various quarters. Toke Makinwa, one of the prominent figures responding to this news, expressed that what has happened to Annie is unfair and that the timing of 2Baba’s statement about their marriage was inappropriate.
She further remarked that Annie has been poorly treated by her husband and that she cannot remain neutral in such a situation. Toke made it clear that anyone who decides to stay silent in circumstances like this may eventually find themselves in a similar position. “We will fight for her,” Toke vowed.
In her statement, Toke hinted at more going on behind the scenes. She mentioned that no one is entirely innocent and that if 2Baba chooses to address their issues publicly, he should anticipate an army of women coming to Annie’s defence. Toke pledged to use whatever resources she has to support her friend.
She added, “No one is asking anyone to stay in a situation that no longer serves them. By all means, leave if you must, but why bring this online at such a time? We know what is happening behind closed doors. The world is unaware of the truth, and it’s already been chaotic with opinions flying around. When I say we will fight for her, I’m not talking about the general public. A handful of people know the truth, and time will tell. Timing and empathy are everything. You constantly preach love; you cannot contribute to the negative narrative out there when you know what is really happening behind closed doors.”
This is not the first time the couple’s marriage has faced public scrutiny. In 2021, Annie publicly accused 2Baba of infidelity, claiming that he was having an affair with his baby mama, Pero Adeniyi.
Annie and 2Baba have two children together, named Olivia and Isabella. The musician has previously been involved with Adeniyi and Sumbo Ajala-Adeoye. Adeniyi has three children with 2Baba, while Sumbo shares two kids with the singer.
