The Ondo State Security Network, also known as Operation Amotekun, has arrested a man allegedly specialising in robbing commercial motorcycle operators, popularly called okada riders, using a pestle.

The suspect, identified as Monday Ojowuro, was accused of targeting okada operators in parts of Ondo State.

The state commander of Amotekun, Akogun Adetunji Adeleye, revealed that Ojowuro was part of a gang of suspected armed robbers preying on motorcyclists.

The suspect was apprehended while allegedly carrying out one of his criminal acts and reportedly confessed to the crime.

Adeleye also expressed concerns about the increasing number of bandits infiltrating the South West, disclosing that the six states in the region had resolved to collaborate in combating insecurity.

He noted that the combined efforts of security agencies across the South West would significantly curb the menace of insecurity in the region.

The security chief assured that measures had been put in place to prevent terrorists from gaining access to the South West.

He stated that criminals had devised new methods to kidnap innocent people using unregistered vehicles and warned commuters against boarding such vehicles.

Adeleye further said that Amotekun had intensified operations to dismantle illegal firearms networks and restore order in parts of the state troubled by cultists.
