Nigeria’s U19 women’s cricket team will be playing in the next stage of the ICC U19 World Cup despite losing their last group match to South African by 41 runs.

Nigeria won the toss but opted to bowl first and contend South African batter before  rain delayed the match.

Piety Lucky, Nigeria’s captain, again showed class and quality in her bowling attack with two dismissals. Lucky dismissed Lourens Simone and South African captain, Reyneke Kayla. South Africas total tally was 49 runs with a loss of 2 wickets in 8 overs

In the second innings, South Africa took advantage of the reduced overs to tighten the bowling screws and limited Nigeria to 24 runs  in 8 overs.

Nigeria will face England in its first Super Six games on January 25 and square up against Ireland on January 29, 2025.
