…Calls for support for Okpebholo to succeed

From Ighomuaye Lucky, Benin

Former Edo State governorship candidate on the platform of National Rescue Movement (NRM), Dr. Osahon Aikoriogie has commended the state governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo for his developmental strides within his 60 days in office as the governor of the state.

He gave the commendation while addressing Journalists in Benin.

Dr. Aikoriogie who later decamped to the All Progressives Congress (APC) with the view of helping Senator Monday Okpebholo to emerge victorious at the September 21, 2024 polls, said that the governor upon his swearing-in, hits the ground running with policies that have direct impacts on the people of the state.

“Yes I will rate the performance of the APC government in Edo State, especially the administration of Monday Okpebholo high because immediately he was sworn into office, he hits the ground running by appointing key leaders into various
positions like SSG and Chief of Staff.

“And now, some commissioners are undergoing screening at the house of assembly and later today, they are going to be sworn in as commissioners.

“And he has also hits the ground running by commissioning various projects, kick-starting some of the road constructions, flyover at the Ramat Park, trying to correct some of the wrongs of the past administration by setting up the Assets Verification Committee and the Vehicle Recovery Committee”, Aikoriogie said.

Dr. Aikoriogie, while also commending the governor for leading the state out of the economic woods, appealed that the government of the day should adopt the automation of the tax system of his predecessor.

Aikoriogie said that the automation of the tax system will help block a lot of financial leakages in the system as the money collected as revenue will now directly go into the government’s coffers instead of going to the wrong hands.

He said with this, the government will then have the money to pay workers salaries and run other of its activities in the state.

He appealed to governor Okpebholo to encamp himself with people who have the abilities to contribute meaningfully to his government so that the state will continue to move in the right direction.

“I don’t entertain any fear but the advice I have for this administration is that he should engage people who have what it takes to be able to contribute positively to this administration and to make sure that the administration is placed in a higher pedestal for growth and for development.

“He should not make use of people who will not contribute anything positively or meaningfully to this administration”, Aikoriogie said.

He further admonished the people of the state to be calm and patient with the current government because he believes that the governor has the people of the state at heart.

“The government of Monday Okpebholo is committed to delivering developmental strides to the people of the state having seen what he has done in his few days in office and just recently, he absorbed over 300 cleaners into the state civil service so that they can have better salaries.

“I believe this administration has their interest at heart”, Aikoriogie added.
