A road accident that occurred on the eve of Thursday, January 9, at Kasari village along the Kaduna-Abuja Expressway, has resulted in the death of 10 persons.

The crash involved a Toyota Hiace commercial bus with registration number GDW190XA, which collided head-on with a truck bearing registration number SMK 141XN.

Confirming the development, The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) Kaduna Sector Command, Kabir Y Nadabo, said, preliminary investigations revealed that 16 people were involved in the crash, with 8 males and 8 females.

He said six people were confirmed dead at the scene, while six others were uninjured. Four people were rushed to the hospital in Rijana, where they were later confirmed dead.

The cause of the crash was attributed to wrongful overtaking and dangerous driving. The bus was said to have caught fire due to the impact of the collision, while the occupants of the truck escaped unharmed.

The sector commander vowed to continue sensitising the public on safe driving culture and road behavior, and to engage transport unions to caution drivers against road vices.
