The apex Igbo socio-cultural group, Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, Oyo State chapter, has elected Mr. Okechukwu Umeh, as its new President.

The election of Umeh and his executive members took place at Lekan Salami Sports Complex, Adamasigba, Ibadan, the state capital.

He emerged winner of the keenly contested poll with 570 votes, while his opponent, Damian Ajare, scored 433 votes.

Evangelist Ijeoma Uchendu also emerged as the Woman Leader. A legal practitioner, Chima Ona, was also elected as the Youth Leader of the group.

Mr Peter Orji was elected as treasurer. The position of Public Relations Officer went to Charles Obasi.

The Chairman of the Electoral Committee and the Senior Special Assistant to Oyo state Governor on Community Relations (Igbo Community), Tallest Innocent, enjoined the winners to extend hands of fellowship to their opponents in service to the Igbo community in the state.

In his acceptance speech, the newly elected president, Okechukwu Umeh, described his victory as a victory for every Igbo man in the state.
