The Acting Governor of Nasarawa State, Dr. Emmanuel A. Akabe, has extended his heartfelt felicitations to Christians in the state and across the globe as they celebrate Christmas, commemorating the birth of Jesus Christ.
In a goodwill message sent to journalists on Tuesday, Dr. Akabe emphasized the symbolic significance of Christmas, describing it as a time for love, peace, and humility. He urged Christians to emulate the virtues and teachings of Jesus Christ by showing love and sharing with others, regardless of religious or denominational differences.
“The birth of Jesus Christ symbolizes love, peace, and humility for humankind,” he stated. “This period teaches us to share joy, be humble, and respect the sanctity of life and one another.”
Dr. Akabe also called on Christians to use the festive season to pray for the peace, health, and prosperity of the nation and Nasarawa State. He highlighted the importance of unity and harmony among people.
“I urge us all to remain resolute in our prayers for the harmonious coexistence of the people of Nasarawa State and Nigeria at large,” he added.
Acknowledging the economic challenges faced by citizens, Dr. Akabe appealed for patience and understanding, noting that Federal Government policies aimed at economic recovery would eventually yield sustainable growth and development.
“I am aware of the hardship being faced by our people due to some economic policies. However, I urge us to remain focused as these policies will lead to sustainable growth and development,” he said.
The Acting Governor also called on the people to pray for Governor Abdullahi A. Sule, seeking God’s wisdom and blessings for him to continue leading the state towards peace and prosperity.
As part of his Christmas message, Dr. Akabe urged residents to celebrate responsibly, warning against criminal and immoral activities. He encouraged moderation and a focus on helping those in need.
“It is not a period for indulgence in criminal or immoral activities. We should avoid flamboyance and extravagance and instead remember those who cannot afford to celebrate,” he stressed.
Dr. Akabe expressed condolences to the families of those who lost their lives in recent stampedes during the distribution of Christmas palliatives in Oyo State, Anambra State, and the Federal Capital Territory.
“We commiserate with the governments and people of Oyo State, Anambra State, and the FCT. May the souls of the departed rest in peace,” he said.
He also advised road users to adhere to traffic regulations to ensure safety during the festive season, urging agencies like the Federal Road Safety Commission to intensify efforts in ensuring accident-free celebrations.
“Let us be cautious and considerate on our roads. Traffic rules and regulations must be obeyed to guarantee safety,” he concluded.
Dr. Akabe wished the people of Nasarawa State a merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year in advance.
