Founder, Naija Market Day, Abiodun Adetu has been honored with the prestigious Business Excellence Award at the 2024 Canada Vendors Entrepreneurs Award (CVEA) ceremony. This milestone makes her the first Manitoban recipient in the event’s five-year history, a significant moment under the leadership of CVEA founder Maryam Muritala.
Naija Market Day, which began in Winnipeg, has grown into a cultural and entrepreneurial phenomenon.
Since inception, it has expanded to Brandon and Calgary, with plans to bring its mission of “bringing Africa closer to the world” to eight more cities in 2025. This initiative has become a beacon for African entrepreneurship and culture, providing a platform for artisans and small businesses to thrive while promoting community and cultural exchange.
The star-studded event featured a distinguished lineup of attendees, including MC Morris, Hon. Charmaine Williams, Lady Ariyike Akinbobola, Titi Kuti, Councillor Ayo Owodunni, and Uche Okugo, among others. The evening also celebrated other notable recipients, such as Shalewa Onayemi of Naijapreneur Canada and Silverline Onyenowu of Hair Regenesis, recognizing their remarkable contributions to their industries and communities.

The Canada Vendors Entrepreneurs Award, founded by Maryam Muritala in 2019, celebrates outstanding entrepreneurs who exemplify innovation, excellence, and community impact.
