.. Urges traders to hope for the best in 2025
President Balogun Business Association, Trade Fair Complex, Lagos, Chief Oscar IK Paul Odogwu has showerd encomiums on founding fathers of the market even as he urges the traders to be steadfast and hopeful amidst economic uncertainty facing the nation.
Chief Odogwu made the comment as part of his speech during the end of the year prayer session organised by the executive of the market.
The programme featured prayers ,songs, and words of exultation by stakeholders and past leaders of the market association.
Chief Odogwu recalled that over the past year, he had worked tirelessly to promote the interest of market members, and he is proud to say that he and the executive have made reasonable progress.
“We have successfully negotiated with Lagos International Trade Fair Complex Management to improve the major road infrastructure, which is dilapidated. Through our collaboration with other stakeholders, we hope to achieve a total turnaround of the roads in the complex, which has now been appropriated in the National Assembly’s 2025 budget. “
Chief Oscar Odogwu also mentioned some of his achievements to include : restoration of electricity in BBA/ICC which was elusive for the past six years, establishment of social cohesion and public confidence in the complex, sanitation of the environment by introduction of effective waste management system, reducing litter and flooding by clearing the blocked drainage and water channels, provision of Solar powered street lights, improving safety and security at night, riding the parks of hoodlums shanties and beautifying of recreation parks and parking lots, Rehabilitation of the clinics to function optimically with ambulance, organised clusters election, promoting peace among the traders, United a community based entrepreneurship programmes supporting some members for bussiness and social event, running a frugal government to curtail wastage corruption and save more to address issue of governance and rehabilitation of the creche.
While paying tributes to past leaders of the market, Chief Odogwu said: “I am grateful for the resilience and determination of team, co-elected, BOT Chairman Chief Okey Ezibe, Chief Obi Alex Odunukwe and many other great members of this association.
