Gunmen suspected to be kidnappers, Thursday evening, abducted three relations of the Nasarawa State correspondent of Leadership Newspaper, Ahmed Tahir Ajobe.

They abducted a male and two female, including Ajobe’s immediate younger sister, Halimtu-Sadiya Tahir on their way from a nearby community market in Awo, Ankpa local government area of Kogi State, along the deplorable Ankpa-Adoka-Markudi road.

The victims were said to have gone to a market to purchase items for the 7-day prayers of the Journalist’s deceased mother when they were kidnapped.

Speaking with Sunday Sun on phone, Ajobe, who was in shock and grief over the loss of his mother, said it was a double tragedy that his two sisters and brother who were lamenting the loss of their mother could be kidnapped and marched into the bush at a gunpoint.

He said the kidnappers called Friday evening, demanding N50 million for the release of the victims and immediately switched off their phone without response.

In his words: “Yes, it is so sad and devastating that three of my family members were kidnapped at a gunpoint around 3:pm on Thursday. They were heading to a village market to purchase food items for the 7-day fidau prayer of my mum which was to take place on Saturday.

“The kidnappers reached out on Friday afternoon demanding for N50 million ransom. And before we could talk, they switched off the phone.

“We have reported the matter to the police and we are calling on them and other security outfits in the state including the vigilante to quickly help in rescuing the victims,” he pleaded.
