Petroleum Training Institute (PTI) has provided leadership empowerment opportunity for the newly elected officials of the Students Union Government (SUG) of the Institute, with the goal of sharpening their leadership skills preparatory for national and global impacts.
In his remarks at the training programme in Abuja, the Principal of the PTI, Dr. Samuel Onoji, said the training became necessary for the new SUG officials so they could be equipped with necessary skills and knowledge to provide leadership to students and PTI community in general.
He encouraged the participants to take advantage of the three-day leadership empowerment workshop to improve on what they have, reminding them that the responsibilities of leadership in the school and the community is upon their shoulders, hence they are expected to be exemplary in their actions, utterances, appearance, behaviours and every other thing that’s associated with leadership.
Mr. Chinonso Obasi, the Principal Partner of Star Trust Consulting, in his submissions, expressed appreciations to the participants for their peaceful conduct and maximum concentration and participation throughout the training, and challenged them to freely share the knowledge and skills acquired as a mark of leadership.
He said: “At Star Trust Consulting, we are building a community of purposeful, visionary, and responsible student and youth leaders to become nation/global leaders, and this is what we have done to the minds of these student leaders.”
He appreciated the Principal/CEO of PTI, Dr. Onoji for aligning with the mandate of Star Trust Consulting by sponsoring leadership training for the newly elected student Union officials of PTI.
Mrs. Hannah Chinonso, the Managing Partner of Star Trust Consulting, in her remarks, during the closing ceremony charged the participants to endeavor to put into practice all they learned during the training. “We hope to see every one of you again as a transformed global leader,” Mrs. Hannah said
Meanwhile, the SUG President, Comrade Efedjarho Herbert, described the leadership training as a turning moment for the newly elected SUG Executives, stressing that the training was centered on leadership fundamentals, effective communication, personal branding, and conflict resolution in student unionism.
He added: “We have been equipped physically, mentally and otherwise taking huge advantage of the expertise of the workshop facilitator and state-of-the-art learning facilities.
“The experience of Mr. Obasi, the Principal Partner of Star Trust Consulting in student unionism, no doubt, offered solutions to all of the major challenges we face as unionists in our institution.”
The SUG President confirmed that they are going back as more informed, reformed, and organized student Union leaders believing that the experience in the training would benefit the PTI students, the PTI community, and society at large.
He thanked the Principal/CEO of Petroleum Training Institute, Dr. Onoji for graciously approving this training for the SUG officials. “Dr. Onoji has proven through this training that he means well for the PTI community.
“I encourage other chief Executives of higher Institutions to learn and emulate Dr. Onoji’s style of leadership,” Herbert said.
The Dean of Student Affairs, Mr. Charles Mgbajiaka, also thanked Star Trust Consulting for the first-class training they received, ranging from the 4-star hotel accommodation to the quality of meals served, and the highly profiled and knowledgeable facilitator given to the participants.
