A member of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu’s legal team,  Nnaemeka Ejiofor has called on President Bola Tinubu to have a private meeting with the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) in order to find solutions to the corruption and economic crisis bedeviling the country.

The lawyer, in a statement yesterday in Abuja, described Kanu as a detribalized Nigerian who at one time paid the fines of prisoners of various tribes, especially northerners when he was detained at Kuje Correctional Centre in Abuja.

“Anyone who has had a one-on-one encounter with him will see that he has a great passion for the turnaround of Nigeria’s fortune as well as the fight against corruption and other forms of social ills in the country so that Nigerians can have a better future”.

The lawyer recounted the meeting Kanu had with the Ohaneze Ndigbo leader, Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyawu and said the igbo leader was amazed  with the intellect Kanu displaced during the meeting.

He lamented that both Iwuanyawu and Chief Amaechi Mbazluike (a first republic minister) did not achieve their aspiration of seeking the release of Kanu before they died, despite holding meetings with  Tinubu and former president Muhammadu Buhari respectively.

The lawyer described Tinubu as a democrat who fought for the enthronement of democracy in Nigeria and advised that the same pardon given to other agitators be extended to Kanu, adding that his  release from incarnation would help end the carnage in the South-East as well as improve the security situation in the region.
