BeatKing, the Houston rapper known for his powerful voice and Southern strip club anthems, has died at the age of 39.
His death was confirmed on Instagram by his manager, Tasha Felder, who wrote, “BeatKing has been the best part of the club for over a decade. He has produced and worked with so many artists, that his sound will forever live.”
NBC also confirmed his passing.
BeatKing, whose real name is Justin Riley, began performing in his church band before becoming well-known in the early 2010s. He had multiple viral successes with his booming voice and risqué lyrics, such as “Then Leave” with Queendome Come, which became well-known on TikTok.
Rapper Bun B was among the first to pay tribute, remembering BeatKing as a “great spirited person.”
BeatKing leaves behind two daughters and his partner, Talameshia.
