News Central TV has condemned the recent attack on its reporters by unidentified thugs while covering ongoing protests in the state.

The media outlet’s Managing Director, Kayode Akintemi, met with the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Adegoke Fayoade, today to express grave concerns over the incident and demanded protection for journalists.

Akintemi described the attack as a brazen assault on press freedom and a blatant disregard for the fundamental rights of journalists to carry out their duties without fear or intimidation.

He personally delivered a letter of complaint on the harassment of News Central’s journalists and emphasized the need for the police to ensure the safety and security of media personnel, who are critical to the functioning of a democratic society.

He presented a detailed report of the incident, including video evidence, to the Commissioner and urged swift action to apprehend the perpetrators.

Fayoade assured Akintemi of a thorough investigation and promised to bring the culprits to justice. He also pledged to strengthen security measures for journalists covering protests and other public events.

Mr Akintemi appreciated the Commissioner’s prompt response and reiterated the need for collaboration between the police and media to promote a safe and conducive environment for journalism to thrive.
