The Aiteo Eastern Exploration and Production Company (AEEPCO), operator of the NNPC / Aiteo Joint Venture on OML 29 has announced the resumption of oil production at the Nembe Oil field following an oil spill.
The oil company had detected the oil leak during routine operations and announced a shutdown of crude loading, while its Oil Spill and Emergency Response Team was activated to probe the cause and mitigate its effect.
Aiteo in a statement on Saturday disclosed following a Joint Investigative Visit by all stakeholders, the Oil field was reopened for production to resume.
‘’Aiteo verifies that following the completion of the joint investigative visit to the spill site by all stakeholders as required by regulations, AEEPCO will reopen its facilities for production while continuing other statutory spill management protocols concurrently,’’ it stated.
Consequently, AEEPCO’s Group Managing Director, Victor Okoronkwo commended all the stakeholders for working to ensure transparency in the investigative process
