•Reschedules exam for 24,535 candidates

From Fred Ezeh, Abuja

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), yesterday, announced the release of another batch of 3,921 outstanding results of candidates that sat for the 2024 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).

JAMB said the results were withheld because of some circumstances that needed to be investigated, but had been cleared, hence the decision to release them. It asked the affected candidates to use the established channels to check their results.

Meanwhile, 24,535 candidates have been rescheduled to re-take the UTME in their chosen examination towns on Saturday, June 22.

JAMB spokesman, Dr. Fabian Benjamin, in a statement,  explained that the Board had painstakingly analysed the process and conduct of the 2024 UTME in some centres, where there were strong proofs of substantial non-compliance with the Board’s standards, hence the decision to withhold the results of such centres till after investigation.

He insisted that candidates with prima facie case(s) of examination misconduct would be further interrogated to establish their culpability after which appropriate measures would be taken on them and announced.

Additionally, the JAMB spokesman said JAMB had approved the expansion of Direct Entry (DE) registration points beyond the Professional Registration Centres (PRCs) owned by JAMB in states where there is an upsurge of prospective candidates.

The Board said it has also yielded to requests and pleas of many stakeholders and authorities for the extension of the period for the 2024 DE registration and has extended the exercise to Monday, June 17.
