Founder and Leader of BIM/ MASSOB Chief Ralph Uwazuruike, has faulted the South East governors and senators’ approach to freeing the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra Nnamdi Kanu from detention, accusing them of politicising the move.

Umezuruike noted that even President Bola Ahmed Tinubu does not have absolute powers to free the IPOB leader without seeking the advice of the National Security Adviser (NSA).

In a statement made available to journalists on Saturday, signed by the group’s Director of Information, Mazi Chris Mocha, Uwazuruike said: ‘It was not the Attorney General of the Federation who is government lawyer or  the president who is the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces that is holding Kanu but the security chiefs.”

He advised governors from the South East region to meet the NSA with convincing security report on why Kanu needed to be freed, stressing that once this was done, the IPOB leader would certainly be released the next day.

He stated that rather than meeting the NSA, who usually advises the president based on available security report from South East, the governors and senators were busy in Abuja taking photographs and claiming to be working for his possible release without following the proper procedures.
