Lagos police nab man with pistol, expended cartridge in Agege

CP visits area, orders rejig of security architecture

The Lagos State Police Command has arrested a 25-year-old man, Toibu Hassan, for illegal possession of a firearm in the Agege area of the state.

Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in the state, SP Benjamin Hundeyin disclosed this in an X post.

Hundeyin said the suspect was arrested at 6 am today under the Agege Pen-Cinema bridge by officers from Elere Division.

The police spokesman said the suspect was arrested with one locally made pistol and one expended cartridge.

“Investigation is ongoing,” he said.

Daily Sun learnt that the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, CP Adegoke Fayoade, embarked on a fact-finding visit to Agege following complaints of harassment and petty robberies along the rail lines in the area.

Hundeyin said the CP has ordered a rejig of the security architecture in the area, charging Divisional Police Officers within the vicinity to ensure optimal provision of security.
