A woman has been killed, and a vehicle suspected to be military vehicle is reported to have been burnt as gunmen suspected to be Boko Haram insurgents stormed into Garkida, Community, a town in Gombi Local government area of Adamawa state, in the late hours of Friday night.

The woman is said to have been shot three times by the gunmen who shot rapidly, terrifying the residents at about 1:45 am.

The gunmen were reported to have entered the town through Gar Fwahar, at the outskirts of Garkida main town, shooting sparodically at the unsuspecting residents of the town.

Some locals told Daily Sun that they spent the entire night on the nearby mountains and bushes where they fled for safety as the gunshot went on for sometime.

According to a source, a resident of Garkida, “Right now no one can tell you about the number of casualties because everyone just ran for safety but the gunmen were large in number, even the military could not stand them and they were heavily armed.

“But later in the day, we should be able to ascertain the extent of damage.

“This is not the first time this is happening, we have become victims, they just come in, attack, destroy our properties, take whatever they want and we always return to pick up the pieces of our lives from whatever they left for us.”
