Management teams of Nigerian Institute of Management (Chartered), and Nigerian Export Promotion Council (NEPC), have agreed to collaborate to promote work ethics, attitudinal change and human capital development to boost productivity in their workplaces.
This is given the fact that work ethics and attitudinal change are identified as the major keys to increased productivity and improved service delivery in organisations.
The two organizations came to this consensus when the President/ Chairman of Council of NIM, Dr. (Mrs.) Christiana Atako paid a courtesy visit to the NEPC, in its headquarters in Abuja, and received by its Executive Director/ Chief Executive Officer, Mrs. Nonye Ayeni.
At the meeting, Mrs Atako who asserted that NIM has been contributing to nation building through capacity building, reengineering, consultancy and various human capital development programmes over the years, described human resource as the greatest asset of every organisation and stressed the need for human capital to be improved upon constantly to remain relevant and up to date with current realities in the workplace.
Atako, therefore, requested the hierarchy of NEPC to engage the services of the Institute by subscribing to its sundry human capital development programmes to improve the productivity and service delivery of its staff.
In addition to training on ‘Work Ethics and Attitudinal Change’, the President equally requested the directors and top management staff of the Commission to enlist for Intensive Training for Membership Admission (ITMA) programme which is an accelerated route to the Institute’s membership.
As a gender sensitive professional body, the sponsorship of female staff members of NEPC to this year’s Women in Management and Leadership (WIMLEAD) conference holding from 23rd to 24th July in NECA House, Ikeja, Lagos, was also canvassed.
Apart from enlisting the organisation to the corporate membership of the Institute to enjoy the accruable benefits such as discounted training rates for its staff, NEPC was also solicited to sponsor its top management staff members to the various Top Executive Leadership Programmes (TELP) of the Institute holding in collaboration with top Ivy League business schools of foreign universities and institutes across the globe.
NIM Chief urged NEPC to nominate some staff to attend the 2024 Annual National Management Conference (ANMC) of the Institute scheduled to hold in Port Harcourt from 22nd to 24th September.
The President reasoned that by taking advantage of the human capital development initiatives of the Institute, NEPC would have allowed NIM to contribute to its management excellence.
In response, Mrs Ayeni, appreciate the Institute’s delegation and informed them that the Council places premium on staff training and development, then assured that the Council would carefully study the proposals and definitely take advantage of them.
