The second edition of the JGM National Squash Tournament has gotten a date with the tournament scheduled to hold from April 3rd – 6th at the Recreation Club Ibadan (1902) Ibadan in Oyo State.
Chief Executive of the JGM Residential Maintenance Services Limited, Niyi Oyewumi, revealed that aside the U16 and U19 tournament for boys and girls, a mini tournament featuring the four best ranked players is also on the cards.
“The first edition of the JGM National Squash Tournament was a huge success going by the number of entries we had. This year’s edition is not going to be different from fillers I have from the Nigeria Squash Federation that have already sent out notification for the tournament.”
“Aside the U16 and U19, there will be a mini-tournament involving the top four national players instead of an exhibition game that we had last year. It is intended to give the younger generation some level of motivation when they see them play.”
Oyewumi stated that the top four ranked players namely Gabriel Olufunmilayo, Kehinde Samuel, Abel Shedrack and Faruq Suleiman have confirmed their participation.
Top among the teams expected at this year’s tournament are players from the Jacob Esuene Squash Academy in Akwa Ibom, Kwara, Lagos, Oyo, Ondo and Ogun States.
