Imo State Governor Hope Uzodinma has called on Nigerians to continue praying for the peace and progress of the country.
This is even as the Labour leaders declared their support for Uzodinma especially as chairman of the All Progressive Congress Governors Forum.
Uzodinma made the call during the Hardship protest rally by the State chapter of the Nigerian Labour Congress( NLC) in Owerri, the Imo state capital on Tuesday.
Represented by the ex- Chief of staff to the Government House, Mr Nnamdi Anyaehie, Uzodinma said the government was committed to the improvement of the citizenry and State.
Factional leader of the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) Comrade Uche Chigemezu who declared their support for Imo state Governor Uzodinma, as Chairman of the APC Governors’ forum represented by the Ex-Chief of Staff, Nnamdi Anyaehie at the government house Owerri.
Chigemezu said Imo workers embarked on a peaceful protest to register their displeasure with decayed infrastructure, and inability to afford basic amenities.
“These are Imo workers on a peaceful protest because we know that when governor Uzodinma speaks, everyone including the federal government listens.
“We are here to tell you that the NLC embarked on this protest to deliver a message to the national leadership that we no longer see electricity and that we can’t afford to buy fuel. We are here to pass a message because the infrastructure is going down daily.
“We thank you for receiving us, it shows the love you have for us. We also thank the security agencies and journalists for your support for Labour,” Chigemezu said.
