The Omo Oodua community in the 19 northern states and FCT, Abuja, has condemned the gruesome murder of one it prominent members, late Mrs. Hadiza Esther Adekanola by yet- to- be identified persons at her residence in Dutse, Jigawa state.
Adekanola was until her death on Thursday February 14, 2024, was the Iyalode of Yoruba community in the 19 Northern States and the FCT, Abuja. The Socio-Cultural group in a statement in Minna, signed by the President General and the Secretary General of the organization, Adesokan Saura and Abdulazeez O. Salaudeen, and made available to newsmen in Minna, Niger State capital, demanded for quick investigation by the relevant security agencies over the murder of its prominent women leader.
The group equally demanded justice for the deceased, saying those behind the “this inhuman and barbaric act must be made to face the law.”
According to the statement, “our preliminary findings revealed that she had a Thanksgiving service on Sunday, 11th February, 2024, and she was sighted last in her Restaurant the following day, Monday,12th February 2024.
“Thus her conspicuous absence in her Restaurant on Tuesday, 13th February, 2024 to Wednesday 14th February, 2024, that led to our members making several calls to her cell phone and physical search for her whereabouts.
“The futility of those search efforts led to our members, with the permission of the Police in Jigawa State Command, cutting the padlock for access to her residence where her lifeless body was discovered”, the statement added.
According to the group, it is in view of the foregoing that, “we write that to request that the perpetrators of the dastardly act should be sought and be brought to book”.
