One of the fastest growing singers on the Afrobeats scene is Adekunle Boluwatife Oluwagbemileke aka Weiser.

The young crooner has evolved from a street music act to emerge on the prestigious stable of Hydeli Records where he’s having his tutelage. Right now, he is taking the Nigerian music industry by storm with his unique style of Afropop sound.

Growing up, Weiser was inspired listening to the likes of Qdot, Olamide, Seyi Vibez, Zinoleesky and Young John, and his musical influences equally include Tope Alabi and Esther Igbekele.

Today, the talented singer/songwriter is leaving no stone unturned to get his music career to its peak. Recalling his humble beginning, he said: “I grew up listening mostly to gospel artistes like Tope Alabi, Esther Igbekele etc. Their danceable songs made me love music as a kid and made me want to do music too.”

In 2023, Weiser released the Logrhythm EP, a body of work that contains eight beautiful tracks.

Talking about the relationship with his record label, Weiser noted, “The label has been so active and supportive, I’ve never had any reason to complain; they’re like a family to me.”

On the challenges he encountered, Weiser said he was snubbed several times and lacked adequate fund to push his music.

“I have encountered a series of challenges including not having enough funds to pay my producer, bloggers etc. Music is tough for upcoming artistes. I’ll go to shows and beg to perform. There was a time one of my former producers told me to come for a show, I got there and he snubbed me. So, on my own, I started hustling to perform, and the MC kept telling me to calm down, until everyone left. By the time the MC called me to perform, only two people were left.”

Weiser doesn’t have a particular genre for which to classify his music, but he described his sound as “a new flavour of spiced up Afropop”, adding that situation around him drives his music and greatly influences his songs.

Weiser noted that the relationship between him and his record label is cordial. “The label has been so active and supportive. I’ve never had any reason to complain, they’re like a family to me,” he admitted.

After obtaining a Diploma in Applied Aviation Science at Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile Ife, Weiser went ahead to study Biological Sciences at Adeleke University, Ede where he also bagged a degree in Biology.
