Democratic Socialist Movement (DSM), Osun State chapter, has urged the Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria (JUSUN) in the state to suspend its strike and begin work.

DSM Coordinator, Alfred Adegoke, in  a statement, yesterday, expressed displeasure over the continued closure of the courts.

It called for the payment of all entitlements and allowances, as well as the recall of all ‘unjustly sacked’ JUSUN members without any further delay.

“We  view the purported dissolution of JUSUN in bad taste. The Osun State JUSUN members should determine the destiny of their executive, and not a fiat from above who are not privy to the plight of the Osun State members.

“We also demand the NJC treat the petition before it with the urgency it demands and conclusively to avoid a situation where delay at the level of NJC will be used as a basis of the grey area to perpetuate the strike, at least a conclusive position from the NJC will put the matter regarding the Chief Judge to rest conclusively whichever way it rules.

“We equally demand the striking JUSUN staff should not be victimised for embarking on the strike being a democratic aspiration of the workers in Osun State for that legitimate demand.

To put an end to the agony being faced by the stakeholders and members of the public at large on account of the closure of the courts, it is no gainsaying that the courts need to be reopened.

“To this end, the JUSUN staff must appreciate the need to suspend the strike as a temporary measure to see to the achievement of their goals,” Adegoke said.
