A group, Niger Delta Women for Change (NDWC), has risen in defence of the executive vice president of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), Oritsemeyiwa Eyesan, saying allegations against her were not only baseless but lacked substance.

Eyesan recently came under attack when she was accused of alleged bias in award of contracts.

But addressing newsmen in Warri, Delta State, NDWC President, Esiri Ikomoni, said the attacks were sponsored and wreaked of bitterness for reasons unknown, and urged the public not to be blinded by the unfounded insinuations.

Flanked by other members of the group, Ikomoni said the allegation against Eyesan were attempts to undermine her significant contributions to nation building.

She insisted the allegations were fuelled by tribalistic blackmail, which threatens the principle of fairness and meritocracy that she stood for.

Ikomoni said: “Eyesan serves perfectly as NNPCL executive vice president, bringing a wealth of experience, visionary leadership, and a steadfast commitment to fostering excellence within the organisation.

“The ongoing attempts to besmirch her reputation only serve to underscore the importance of supporting leaders who prioritise competence over divisive narratives.

“Eyesan continues to lead with integrity, resilience, and an unwavering commitment to the betterment of NNPCL and the nation at large.”
