Nemesis caught up with five members of an armed robbery gang on Wednesday, as their vehicle collided with a trailer stationed along Ada George /Rumukokwu road in Nkpolu Oroworukwo, Mile 3 Diobu axis of Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
An eyewitness, who gave his name as Uche Woke told journalists that the five gunmen had burgled a shop along Ada George/Chinda axis that deals on wholesale sealed engine oil on Wednesday morning.
Woke explained that as the armed robbers who came with two vehicles were leaving after successfully loading cartons of engine oil and other valuables into their car, the private security guard, attached to the warehouse raised the alarm which attracted passers-by and the Police.
The source disclosed that the armed robbers on sighting the Police patrol van zoomed off and tried to use alternative route that inks Rumukokwu from Ada George road when they rammed into a stationed trailer.
According to the source, one of the fleeing armed robbers sitting on the front seat of the vehicle died, while two members of the gang were in critical condition and receiving medical treatment at an undisclosed hospital.
The eyewitness further disclosed that two of the gang members, however, escaped.
Meanwhile, the State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Grace Iringe-Koko, a Superintendent of Police (SP), has confirmed the incident.
Iringe-Koko disclosed that the suspects were rushed to hospital where one of them was confirmed dead and two who are critically injured were receiving treatment.
