Ahead of the Supreme Court judgment on Plateau Governorship election coming up in few hours, the state police command has warned that it will not tolerate any breakdown of law and order.

The command, in a statement signed by the Spokesman, Alfred Alabo, said that it has put all measures on ground to forestall any untoward occurrence.

The statement said, “In light of the long awaited Supreme Court judgement on the Plateau State Governorship Elections petition which is scheduled to be passed today, the 12th day of January, 2024 and the potential tension and uncertainty that may arise as a result of the ruling, the Plateau State Command wishes to inform all residents of Plateau State that adequate security measures have been put in place by the Command in all vulnerable locations within the Jos/Bukuru Metropolis and all 17 Local Government Areas within the State, to mitigate against any mishap or violence that may arise in any part of the State.

“These measures are designed to guarantee the safety and security of all residents of Plateau State.

“Furthermore, the Plateau State Commissioner of Police, Okoro J. Alawari, places a stern warning to mischief makers and all persons who may want to use this as an avenue to cause mayhem and disrupt the fragile peace currently being enjoyed on the Plateau, that the Command under his watch and the entire Nigeria Police Force will deal decisively with such person or group of persons and all their sponsors in accordance with the extant laws.

“He therefore advises the general public to go about their lawful businesses without fear or intimidation.”
