… Passes vote of confidence on Alia
From Scholastica Hir, Makurdi
The Benue Chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC), may finally be on the path of peace, as the party has lifted the indefinite suspension issued on some appointees and loyalists of the state Governor, Rev Fr Hyacinth Alia.
The State Chairman of the party, Comrade Austin Agada, disclosed this at the end the emergency meeting of the State Executive Committee of the party and the 23 Local Government party chairmen in Makurdi, on Thursday.
Recall that the APC executive committee in Kwande and Guma LGA suspended some members for several reasons including creating parallel factions among other allegations.
But speaking after the meeting at the party secretariat, Agada said the suspensions were ordered by unauthorized persons at saying they have been warned to desist from such acts as the APC on Benue is one and would remain so to deliver democracy dividends to the people.
He also disclosed that the party passed a vote of confidence on Governor Hyacinth Alia for their beliefs in his leadership qualities.
Comrade Agada, who noted that the meeting overturned the suspension issued to all party members in the state said they pass the vote of confidence in Governor Alia because they have faith in his ability to deliver on his campaign promises and they were strongly behind him.
“Even before the Governor arrived the meeting, we unanimously passed a vote of confidence on the Governor. We believe in his ability to deliver on his campaign promises.
“Also all suspension issued on members so far is hereby nullified, they should all return to status-quo”.
Earlier, Governor Hyacinth Alia said the meeting became necessary to correct certain frivolities making the rounds on the social media and to pledge their loyalty to the APC.
Governor Alia said there was every need for them to be together for the unity of purpose and that no one was leaving the APC.
“We are here to correct some frivolities that are going on on the social media and at the end of the meeting the chairman was able to make some pronouncements over the suspension of certain persons in the party and all that.
“The primary aim is to give us a good sense of oneness, unity, and that of unity of purpose that when we come together we become more of a force.
“And also that we have a number of projects that we are executing and I wouldn’t want any distraction from any angle at all.
“So it is very meaningful that we all pledge our loyalty to the APC and to say that no one is leaving APC and that we are all one and working for the greatness of APC and we don’t want any distraction from any angle whatsoever,” he said
