A German Agency, the German Initiative for Knowledge Transfer (GIKT), has appointed a former Abia House of Assembly member, Obinna Ichita, as its Country Director/Principal Representative in Nigeria.
Ichita, trained in Nigeria,Germany and England, according to a statement, represented Aba South State Constituency in the Abia House of Assembly from 2019 to 2023.
He was also the Deputy Governorship candidate of the All Progressive Grand Alliance in the 2023 General Elections in Abia.
In the appointment letter signed by the Board Secretary of the agency, Daniel Ferris, and sighted by the Sun, Ichita’s appointment took effect from Monday, January 8.
The appointment letter state, “It is my pleasure to announce that approval has been granted for the appointment of Herr Obinna Ichita, as the Country Director/ Principal Representative of the German Initiative for Knowledge Transfer eV in the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
“Obinna Ichita was trained in Nigeria,Germany and England. We are confident that his tacit knowledge will enhance the attainment of the objectives of our organization in Nigeria.”
The letter further stated that the new Country Director will in partnership with the relevant authorities, stakeholders and their development partners in the host country, coordinate and direct all the activities of the agency, with a view to achieving their Aid and Development agenda in Nigeria.
It went further to stated that the “relevant authorities have been notified of this development”.
In a statement issued in Umuahia, Ichita expressed delight over his appointment.
He thanked individuals and corporate organisations that had hand in his nomination for the job and promised to discharge his responsibilities diligently.
The former lawmaker said the country would benefit immensely from the initiative in the areas of agriculture, Information Technology, Science and Mathematics, Hydro Carbon, Engineering and Artificial Intelligence, amongst other areas of endeavour.
