Poised to put smiles on the faces of the needy and orphans during the yuletide season, an NGO, Grateful Giving NGO, at weekend, donated food items, packs of cereals and beverage drinks to two orphanage homes in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital.
The packages including bags of rice, cereals, milk, beverage, pasta and noodles, were donated at the Gideon Orphanage, Aged, Young Widow and Physically Challenged Home and Alogi Orphanage and Children’s Home, situated in Asero Housing Estate, Asero and Fajol Estate, Obantoko areas of Abeokuta.
Handing over the items at the Gideon Orphanage on behalf of Grateful Giving NGO, Abiodun Awodipe, disclosed that the gesture was to ensure people at the home also celebrate a merry Christmas.
He explained that the NGO founded by like minds who finished from the same university, has been doling out food items to the Home for the past four years.
Awodipe stated that the donation was a contribution from the NGO to give succour to the needy especially during the festive season when everyone is celebrating and rejoicing.
He noted that despite the economic crunch, the NGO kept to its mandate of putting smiles on the faces of the motherless and other less privileged in the society.
Responding, the Administrative Manager of Gideon Orphanage, Apata Oluwaseun, thanked the NGO for the kind gesture and commended it for donating to the Home despite the current economic situation in the country.
Equally donating the food items at the Yemi Alogi Orphanage and Children’s Home, Awodipe, urged the children and the workers of the Home to always give thanks to God for His provisions.
According to him, the donation by the NGO is another assurance that God is watching over the residents of the Home and providing for them.
He, however, assured them that the Grateful Giving NGO will continue to provide support in order to make the residents happy and feel loved.
Receiving the donated items, the Manager of Yemisi Alogi Orphanage and Children’s Home, Oyeyipo Bukola, expressed appreciation, adding the food items will go a long way in making Christmas celebrations at the Home a memorable occasion.
