In a recent transition of leadership, the Nasarawa State Police Command announced the appointment of CP Shehu Umar Nadada as the state’s 28th Commissioner of Police.
He succeeds CP Maiyaki Mohammed Baba, who retired from the Nigeria Police Force after an illustrious career dedicated to serving the nation.
A statement signed by the commands PPRO, DSP Ramhan Nansel, sent to the media on Tuesday said CP Nadada brings a wealth of experience and expertise to his new role, having joined the Nigeria Police Force on May 18, 1992, as a Cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP).
Hailing from Rano LGA of Kano State, he holds a (B.Sc. Hons) in Applied Biology from Bayero University, Kano, and a Masters Degree in Law Enforcement and Criminal Justice from Ahmadu Bello University (A.B.U.), Zaria.
Throughout his career, the statement also noted that CP Nadada has held significant positions within the force, including Commissioner of Police for Katsina State Command, Deputy Commissioner of Police for the Department of Operations in Nassarawa State Command, and Assistant Commissioner of Police for Operations in Nasarawa State Command. Additionally, he served as the 2ic Area Command, Zaria, Kaduna State Command, and fulfilled roles as a Divisional Police Officer across various Divisions in Niger, Ekiti, Kaduna, and Anambra States.
His dedication to professional development is evident through his participation in numerous specialized courses both within and outside Nigeria, covering areas such as Combat Operation, Operational Management, Financial Intelligence, and Leadership. Notably, CP Nadada completed the Senior Executive Course 45, 2023, at the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS), Kuru Jos, and a Leadership Course at the esteemed China National Academy of Governance in Beijing. It added.
Aside from his professional pursuits, CP Nadada enjoys reading and horse riding, finding balance between his career and personal life. He is happily married with a loving family.
