The Garba Muhammad Datti led Zonal leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC), North West, has hailed the victory of the party in Sokoto State as appellate court sitting in Abuja dismissed an appeal by the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and its candidate, Saidu Umar, challenging the election of the Sokoto State Governor, Ahmad Aliyu.
On the verdict passed on Monday, November 27, Datti opined that Justice Haruna Mshelia-led team of the court of appeal’s decision to, “completely agree with Sokoto governorship election petition tribunal on grounds that the petitioners were unable to prove any of the allegations they raised in their petition against the governor and most of the evidence that the appellants presented to support their case were inadmissible are in fact in the best interest of justice and fairness.”
This was contained in a statement by the APC Zonal Publicity Secretary (North West), Musa Mailafiya Mada in Kaduna on Tuesday.
While hailing the judgement, Datti equally congratulated Governor Aliyu on, “the resounding victory that affirmed the yearnings and aspirations of the good people of Sokoto State whom truly bestowed their mandate on him through the ballot on 18th March 2023.”
Datti also congratulated the entire people of the Seat of the Caliphate for having a vibrant leader in governor Aliyu, adding that the governor has turned out to be workaholic since inauguration on 29th May 2023.
“The Zonal Leadership of the All Progressives Congress in the largest geopolitical zone reaffirmed it’s resolute commitment and holistic support to its members across all the seven states of the North West in accordance with the party’s construction and electoral values,” the statement added.
