The recent naked protest by some women in Awka over alleged conspiracy on the side of the police over incessant cult related killings in the city has taken a different dimension as residents of the area accused criminals of sponsoring the protest against the police.
Sunday Sun gathered that some residents of Anambra State, especially in Awka and its environs had condemned the women’s nude protest against the Anambra police command early this week, insisting that some criminals sponsored them to blackmail the police.
A human rights activist, Osita Obi, described the action as insanity for anybody to protest against the hard working Commissioner of Police in the state, Aderemi Adeoye.
Obi alleged that the protesters were sponsored by criminals and cultists in a bid to blackmail the police in order to have their way and perpetuate crimes within Awka and its environs.
“CP Aderemi Adeoye is a refined gentleman and a core professional police officer. He is policing Anambra State very well. Awka the state capital is feeling his activities. Cultists and their sponsors are on the run.
“Criminals and cultists in Awka sponsored and organised that protest to divert attention from their activities and operations.”
Also speaking, Ugomba Nwachukwu urged the commissioner of police to take necessary actions in Awka because the citizens were tired of cult-related killings and crimes.
