It was all glamour and razzmatazz at the 10th edition of Maya Awards Africa, one of Nigeria’s biggest all youth awards held on Saturday, November 11 at Mauve 21 Events and Conference Centre, Ring Road, Ibadan, Oyo State.
The colourful event, which had over 1,300 guests made up of top politicians, CEOs and entertainment personalities, was anchored by prolific comedian, Dr Smile, who dished out jokes and spread laughter across the hall.
With musical performances by Dele Omo Woli’s Flaming Brothers and VicKeYz, plus rib cracking sessions by young comedians including General Olak, MC Dextop, Baffy and Taichi, the mood for the night was that of fun and splendour. This further showed the consolidation of the awards brand as a calendar event of the average young person that craves genuine appreciation of the excellent spirit of the African youths.
Started in 2013 but first held in Ibadan in 2014 with the 2nd edition also staged there in 2015 before moving to Lagos, Maya Awards has gone on to celebrate over 350 highflying youths across 10 countries.
Hon. Shina Peller chaired this year’s event, while the Mother of the Day was the First Lady of Osun State, Mrs. Titilola Adeleke.
Top personalities like Muibi Kehinde, Tony Kolawole, Tosin Olatujoye, Kola Amusan, Engr. Kayode Adamolekun, Deji Adeoye, Aisha Lawal, Woli Agba, Kamo Nepa Boiz, Erekere, Ozain were in attendance.
